Productive Weekend

Hi Everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend. I just got done with some homework and am enjoying the last couple hours of the weekend! We had a pretty productive weekend. We purchased stools for our kitchen (here's a pic --> http://www.worldmarket.com/product/twist-swivel-stool.do), George finished building our bookshelf and hung some pictures, and I unpacked the last couple of boxes! The downstairs is definitely coming together!

On Friday night, George and I tried Culinary Dropout (restaurant in Scottsdale) for the first time with some of our friends.  We split pretzels and cheese fondue as an appetizer and George had ribs and I had french onion soup. We will definitely go back! Yesterday, we went to the ASU game. A big group of us have season tickets (everyone in my family, Fosters/Hobsons, Froehles, Bassets).

Yesterday was also Homecoming for Hannah. George and I stopped by to take see Hannah and Jeremiah while they were taking pictures. Here are a few....

Both of my Grandmas sent George and I a house warming card. I didn't realize it until a few days ago, but they sent exactly the same card!! ;)

As if chocolate chip cookies and Haagen Dazs aren't good enough on their own....
I made cookie sandwiches last week. SO good!

Midterm DONE!

I'm feeling very relieved right now! I just got done with my first MBA midterm. It was a statistics midterm and I've been stressing about it all day (and studying all weekend). It feels great to have it behind me :)

This weekend Hannah participated in Distinguished Young Women of Arizona (http://www.ajm.org/programs/state_n_local_programs/arizona/). She had been preparing for Saturday for a month or so. There were 5 categories (academics, fitness, interview, talent, and self expression. The judges rated all of the girls (high school seniors) in all five categories and the top 6 in each category won a scholarship. The person with the highest total score went on to the national level. Well, our little Hannah (haha) won scholarships for 3 of the 5 categories!!! She won in academics, fitness, and interview! We were all there cheering her on and needless to say, we were cheering like crazy when she won.....it was so much fun to watch her up there! I don't have any pictures of Saturday, but I think Emily does. I will try to get them from her.

The house is coming along really well. It is starting to feel more and more like home! This weekend should be less busy with school work so I will able to finish up the last of the boxes.

Off to bed!

House and Trip

Finally...an update!

I have been busy to say the least. Last Thursday we closed on our house. That same day we also moved into our house. My Dad, Brian, George's Dad, and George did the heavy lifting. That night, we started organizing and unpacking everything too.

On Saturday morning, we left for New York City. It was such a fun trip. We did some of the touristy stuff, but we mostly just explored the city....did a lot of walking and a lot of eating (we found some awesome restaurants!) The biggest highlight was going to Live! with Kelly (and now, Michael). It was Michael Strahan's first day on the show and the guests were Claire Banes (actress), Philip Phillips (American Idol winner), and Jordyn Wieber and Aly Raisman (Olympic Gymnasts). Emily and I were super excited about Philip Phillips because we were routing for him in the last season of American Idol. It was so awesome to see the show in person. Kelly and Michael were so funny and friendly with the audience. During the commercial breaks, they interacted with the audience and joked around.

After a great trip, we came back to the reality of having to unpack and put together our home.....oh, and for me, the reality of class and homework :) We have actually put a pretty decent dent into the work that  needs to get done (built our entertainment center, unpacked most of our boxes, got the internet/cable set up). We have had a lot of help from family. George's Dad installed our garage door opener and my Dad installed our washer, dryer, and fridge. THANK YOU!

Here are a few pictures of our progress....

NYC so far!

Hello from New York City! This will be a really quick post - we have things to do! :) I LOVE New York.....seriously, when can I move here?

So far, we have been to Battery Park, SoHo, Wall Street, TimesSquare (we are staying right next to Times Square), Washington Park, Little Italy, among other places. We have been enjoying the NYC food as well. Some of our food highlights include Becco (Italian, http://becco-nyc.com), Lombardi's (Pizza, http://www.firstpizza.com), Noodies (Thai, http://www.menupages.com/restaurants/noodies/), and Rice to Riches (Rice Pudding, http://www.ricetoriches.com/puddy.aspx).

Today, my parents are at the US Open and George, Emily, and I are doing some more eating and exploring. AND tomorrow morning we are going to Live with Kelly!

Got to run....
