Baby #2!!

I think it's time that I make it "blog official".....we are having another baby!! I am due on February 14! We are so excited to have another little one join our family. Just like my pregnancy with Madeline, I have been feeling really good, just extra sleepy. We won't be finding out the gender for this one. It'll be hard not knowing since I'm such a planner, but I am surprisingly OK with waiting. It'll be such an exciting moment in the delivery room when we do finally find out :)

Here's the 12 week ultrasound picture...I am now between 15 and 16 weeks and the next ultrasound is in 3 weeks.

Here is Madeline announcing that she is going to be a big sister! We have told her that mommy has a baby in her belly. She doesn't really get it yet. In fact, she thinks she has a baby in her belly too :)

Here I am at 15 weeks with a little belly starting to show...

Here's another shot of the big sister just because she is so cute! This was taken right after she stole Hannah's pencil case from her bedroom. She loves taking things from Hannah's room.

We have been working on re-doing our loft. We are trying to do it on a small budget and have managed to pull it off. Here are some Ikea shelves that we bought and assembled. They run along the entire wall so it sort of doubles as a window seat. We might eventually make a large cushion for the top of it.

George also worked super hard this past weekend to make a baby gate to close off the loft. It is on hinges like a door and latches like an outdoor gate. It is pretty awesome looking. My job is painting it and I am about halfway done with it. I will post a final picture in next blog post.

Goodnight!

Beating the Heat!

Did you think I was done with my blog for good? Don't worry, I'm back and I'm planning to keep it going. But actually, I do think this is the longest I've ever gone without updating.

We've been trying to beat the heat lately. It's definitely the dog days of summer here in Arizona with 115+ degree temps. My work travel has died down a bit with the exception of a trip to Washington, DC two weeks ago. It was a quick 2 night trip and unfortunately, there was no time for site seeing. George and I also went to Long Beach last week for just one night for Derek and Kelly's wedding. George was a groomsman in the wedding. It was a small, intimate wedding with just 25 or so guests. Kelly was a gorgeous bride and Long Beach was a beautiful backdrop for their big day.

Madeline's vocabulary has really expanded and it seems like she is talking nonstop! Here are some of her favorite things to say:

"Daddy/Mommy, come on!" (as she grabs our hand and takes us to where she wants to go)

"HEYYYY!!" (if we do something that she doesn't like)

"More, please" (while she does the more sign)

Tonight she said to be "I don't like that" at dinner (uh oh)

"I hold you" (she means to say "you hold me")

She also LOVES to sing. Her favorites songs are the I Love You Barney song, Hot Peas and Barley-O (Scottish song that my Grandma Clark sings to the kids), Itsy Bitsy Spider, Clean-up, Clean-up, and lots more. If you catch her in the right mood she will full-on belt out a song for you. And actually, she normally is pretty spot-on with the tune...unlike Mommy :)

Last weekend, after Brian and Terrisa got back from Hawaii, we all got together for some swimming and dinner. We made our own pizzas and then cooked them on pizza stones that my parents have for the grill.

I took Paisley and Madeline around and round the pool in this little boat. I think they were both a little sea sick at the end of the night. Oops!

Madeline is always asking us about Parker. She loves seeing and playing with her cousins!

Don't they look like they just got busted for something?! :)

Madeline has started to discover the joys of splash pads. I'm not sure if it's the case in other parts of the country, but splash pads are a big thing here in AZ. There is actually one right in my parent's neighborhood. These pictures are from the one in downtown Gilbert.

So that's what we've been up to lately! Nothing too eventful, but we don't mind that!

Before I go, I thought I'd share. I was curious as to where the phrase "dog days of summer" came from. I googled it and found this:

Dog Days is the name for the most sultry period of summer, from about July 3 to Aug. 11. Named in early times by observers in countries bordering the Mediterranean, the period was reckoned as extending from 20 days before to 20 days after the conjunction of Sirius (the dog star) and the sun.

So technically, I guess the dog days of summer are over. Sure doesn't feel like it!
