Dinner!

I'm running out of things to blog about, because well...we work, we eat, and we sleep! SO, guess what? I'm blogging about eating! BORING, I know, but I want to keep my blog going and my goal was at least two posts per week.

Growing up my parents always made sure we sat down and ate dinner as a family. I'm so glad we did that because it provided some good family time and some good conversation...and probably some good debates and arguments too! :) My mom makes planning and preparing a dinner for six people (or more) easy. Turns out, it's not. Imagine that! With a busy schedule and after a long day at work, going out to dinner is pretty appealing....BUT going out adds up quickly and I always end up eating unhealthy (not that the burgers pictured below were healthy). Long story short, I have been making a big effort to plan out our meals. And George has been pitching in too! So without further ado, here is our meal from Monday night!

We have a Sprouts Farmer's Market (it's more like a grocery store/farmer's market) nearby that has lots of very reasonable priced fruits and vegetables. Note the new salad spinner! :)

Some delicious mango!

Ready to head down to the grill (our apartment has some community grills). For my Rochester family, that green stuff is avocado! Just had to point that out b/c when I was visiting Rochester back in the fall, I went to Subway and asked for some avocado on my sandwich. To my surprise, the lady had no idea what avocado was- and then the other lady working said, "we don't eat avocado in Rochester!" Haha!!

The grill master!

Some delicious salad to start!

And an Arnold Palmer for George and my favorite iced tea from Trader Joe's to wash it all down

Take that Red Robin!

Meeting Paisley

Two weeks ago I posted some pictures of my new little niece, Paisley. This past weekend I finally (two weeks felt like forever) got to meet her! She was as cute as could be - always making cute little faces! I kept my camera close to capture as many of those cute faces as possible.

She sleeps a lot :)

Hanging out with Grandma Warren!

Sunny day!

Wide awake and playing!

Sleepy little girl...

Ahh...the life!! Relaxing with Aunt Hannah :)

The flights were a bit expensive for George to come too, but we will both be back in AZ for Easter so he will be able to meet Paisley and I will be able to see her again!

Weekend with Emily

This past weekend we had a visitor in town...my sister Emily! It was so much fun to have company (we love visitors) and it was especially fun to have Emily in town. Emily was actually in town for work. She is an intern at City of Hope in Phoenix- she works in event planning (graduating in May, if anyone knows of any event planning jobs!) Anyway, she had a work related training in LA during the week and came to stay with us Thursday-Sunday. On Friday, George and I both had to work so Emily met-up with a friend (Carrie Hobson) for a tour of Disney's Consumer Goods division. Carrie works as an artist for Disney! George, Emily, and I kept it pretty low-key on Friday night and just went out for some Italian food. On Saturday, the three of us went to Disneyland!!! ... which of course was a great time. Emily is going to send me some pictures that I will post at a later time- she's like the only one who actually take photos in our family. Needless to say, we were pretty beat on Saturday night! Emily's flight was out of LAX on Sunday evening so we headed down to the LA area beforehand. George and I had been wanting to go to this really neat Farmer's Market- we did end up going there, but it was pouring rain so we'll have to go back another time to actually enjoy it! It was great to have Emily in town- other visitors are welcome (just not too many at a time b/c we live in a tiny place! :)

George did take this one photo- we did this awesome animation tutorial at California Adventure! I was pretty impressed with my sketch, if I do say so myself!

Prescott, AZ

A couple of weeks ago, George and I sadly found ourselves in Prescott, AZ for his Tia Heidi's funeral. We were very glad to be able to make it out to Prescott to be there with his Grandma and the rest of the family. We stayed overnight and were able to do a bit of exploring. It was my first time to this very cute town north of Phoenix.

The first two pictures are taken in front of the courthouse in Prescott. The courthouse sits in the center of their main square. George is reenacting a scene from one of his favorite movies, Back to the Future :) We also stumbled upon an old theater and decided to pose for some pictures!

Introducing...

Miss Paisley Jean Warren! After many hours of labor, Terrisa gave birth to this sweet baby girl last night. Her stats: 9 lbs, 13 oz, 21 inches. My mom and dad, Emily, Hannah, my Grandma Clark, and others were there to welcome Paisley!! Unfortunately, I was not there in person, BUT George and I were there via Skype (which was the next best thing). I'm heading to Phoenix next weekend to meet her :)

As you can see, I am a very proud Aunt!!!!

My Latest Project

My family is getting very excited for the birth of sweet little Paisley in just a few days! A month or so ago, Terrisa and I went and picked out fabric for Paisley's quilt in her crib. With the wedding preparations (plus a deadline for 2 other quilts!), I am just now getting around to doing this one! The good news...babies don't require big quilts, so this shouldn't take me very long at all :) George took these pictures of me last night. Stay tuned for pictures of the finished product...hopefully that will be sooner rather than later ;)

Photo Editing!

I've just discovered this awesome website to edit my pictures called picnik.com! Pretty neat, huh? Wow, it sure is nice to have some free time these days! FYI- if you want to see the pictures on my blog any larger, just click on it and it will open in a new window.

Recipes

One wonderful perks of getting married (besides gaining a husband! :)) is getting tons of great gifts. George and I were fortunate enough to get lots of great gifts! So now I have a bunch of kitchen tools and gadgets and I want to start using them! I also happen to know that I have some good cooks in my family (and friends!) and I'm hoping that you all can share some of your recipes with me. George and I both work full time so we are looking for relatively simple recipes. Also, any Crockpot recipes that I put together before we leave for work would be great as well! You can email me those at heatheronemail@gmail.com.

Thanks!

Honeymoon Pictures

For the non-Facebook users, which is pretty much just you, Grandma :) here are some pictures from our honeymoon in Cancun, Mexico!

We did a really awesome zipline tour thing with a series of 12 ziplines through the jungle. At the end, they brought us to this cenote (translation: natural deposit of spring water) which we also got to zipline into!

What a life!

Every morning we went to breakfast at this restaurant overlooking the ocean!

How's that for some BLUE water???

We had a few ping pong competitions...I think we all know who won.

Welcome

Ok! I'll have to mess around with the design some more later , but it will do for now.

I got really into blogging during my traveling and study abroad in 2008, but life got busy when I got back home and the blogging stopped. I want to get back into it...hopefully I'll keep this one going for awhile.

Anyone reading this probably knows that George and I got married just a few weeks ago now! :) It was a very, very, very wonderful wedding that we will remember forever! I will post some pictures on the blog once we receive them from the photographer in a few weeks.

I will be updating the blog with everything from our travel to projects that I'm working on to day-to-day life.

Thanks for reading!!
