This past weekend, we went with my entire family to California for a long weekend. It was nice to get out of the 100+ temps for a few days. On Friday, we spent most of the day at Huntington Beach. We went rollerblading which Madeline always likes. I think she is going to be a dare devil because she loves to go fast :) On Saturday, we went to Magic Mountain. It was the first time there for some of us -- George and I went there once a long time ago so it was basically the first time for us too. Pretty much all of their roller coasters are insane. It's been awhile since I've done extreme rides like that. I've become a wimp after so many trips to Disney. I love rides with huge drops, but some of the rides with tons of twists and loops disorient me too much. Are you wondering how the babies did on the trip? Parker and Madeline actually both did very, very well! (for babies) :) There were a couple of meltdowns here and there, but for the most part they just went along for the ride....pun intended. And as a matter of fact, they both did ride the carousel. Does it count if Parker was asleep while riding it? :)
On Sunday, we headed back home late-morning because George had to fly out to Philadelphia for a work trip on Monday morning. And, Monday was my first day at my new job! I believe this is the first mention of new jobs on the blog. You probably know by now, but both George and I started new positions with new companies! Of course, we didn't purposely plan to change jobs within a week of each other, it just happened to work out that way (although not ideal). George is not a Recruiter for a company called Yoh: http://www.yoh.com. Yoh is a recruitment or staffing firm that is based in PA, but has an office here. George will specialize in technology recruitment. This is week 2 for him and so far, he is really enjoying the position. He feels like he is learning so much already.
I started my new job at General Mills on Monday. I'm sure you all know what General Mills is so I won't provide the link to their website :) My title is Business Planning Associate so I will be doing a lot of category and market analysis. It was hard to leave Nestle, but I decided that the move to General Mills was best for my long term growth and development. Just like George, I am knee deep in training. I go to Minneapolis for my formal headquarter training on June 23. I love everything about the company and their culture so far and I'm really looking forward to learning something new and applying some of those MBA skills! :)
Oh yeah, Madeline has been busy too! She is scooting all over the place now. She has been a bit under the weather with a runny nose and cough for the past few days, but that doesn't hold our active little baby back.
Madeline and I enjoying California :)
It's hard to tell in this picture, but the person in the blue cage is Hannah and Brian and Paisley are in the red cage. Paisley enjoyed it....not sure about Hannah and Brian! :)
Paisley, the beach babe! She was a bit unsure of the very cold water, but Grandpa built some sand castles with her which she thought was pretty cool.
And the other beach babe, Madeline. Next year, I'm sure Madeline and Parker will be helping Paisley and Grandpa build those sand castles!
