Luke: 2 Months!

My maternity leave is quickly coming to a close :( :( I'm starting to mentally and emotionally prepare myself for going back next Wednesday. I've obviously done this once before, but I think this time will be harder. This maternity leave has been much easier on me than my leave when Madeline was first born. Going from no kids to one kid was way more overwhelming for me than the transition from one kid to two kids.  This time around I have been able to relax and enjoy the baby phase more. I've also loved spending more time with Madeline. This morning she was taking Luke and my orders for lunch. "What you like, Mommy?...and Luke?" and after we placed our orders she said, "All set?" You have to see the facial expressions to get the full effect :) Of course there are plenty of times when it's complete chaos too...probably more often than not actually! I'm sure it'll take me no time at all to get back into the swing of things at work. Plus, we are fortunate to have a babysitter that we like and trust....that definitely helps.

Last week, Luke had his 2 month check-up (a week late). He had two shots and screamed for a few seconds, but bounced back quickly. He was 13.5 lbs (60th percentile) and 24 inches (90th percentile)...definitely a big boy! He's outgrown most of his 3 month clothes and we're now onto 3-6 months. He has started smiling and coo-ing, still doesn't take a pacifier (at this point, he probably never will), loves to eat (I'm still exclusively breastfeeding), can roll over from his front to back, always falls asleep on car rides, screams when he's hungry (but not too much besides that), and is a really good sleeper. I think Madeline is ready for him to do more interesting things :)

The three of us hang out in the loft most mornings. Here are a few pictures from last week.

Paisley left two of her dolls at our house so Madeline was babysitting them...

Madeline has a basket of different instruments upstairs. I'm surprised I haven't thrown away the basket because usually the noise drives me crazy. Anyway, she was singing and banging on one of her instruments last week and it seemed like every time Luke closed his eyes, she would bang extra hard and startle him! I bet studies would show that second child are deeper sleepers than first born children.

A close-up of Mr. Luke (as George calls him). His eyes are such a nice blue....I'm really hoping that they stay that color!
