Baby Quilt

Some of our friends, Brent and Chrissy, are expecting their little girl Charlotte anytime now. I found some fabric a few months ago that I knew would be perfect fit with the style that Chrissy decided to go with for Charlotte's nursery. I decided to try a simple rag quilt with the fabric. It turned out so cute, if I do say so myself :)

Instead of batting, I used a nice soft flannel in the middle. The seams were sewn facing up. I then cut the the seam every centimeter or so apart with special scissors used for rag quilts. After it is all cut, I washed it and put it in the dryer. The dryer gives makes all of the cuts really soft and fluffy. I can't wait to try another!

On Thursday, I am taking a class at Etc (local crafting store) on how to make a yarn wreath. I'm really looking forward to it. Pictures to come :)

Neighborhood Pics

I hope everyone is having a great week! My family came over tonight and we went to our neighborhood's fall festival. It was a nice little fall festival for families, but definitely more for kids....not much for us older people with no kids. So far, we love our neighborhood. They seem to have lots of activities and all of our neighbors are very, very nice. A couple of weeks ago they had a movie night in the park that George took his sister, Marie, to.

Our neighborhood is called Morrison Ranch. It is built on old farmland in Gilbert. Actually, there are still active farms surrounding the neighborhood. It really makes for some pretty scenery! Here are some pictures that George took a few weeks ago.

George's birthday is on Saturday. We are celebrating by going to the ASU football game and then going to a Halloween party.

Pictures

Phew! So happy last week is over and my exams are behind me. After studying all day on Friday and after 8 hours at school on Saturday, I was ready to relax. Here is what my Friday looked like....

Last Sunday night, George's family came over for dinner. His sister, Rachel, moved back from Florida earlier this year...

We had strawberry shortcake for dinner. Marie made the whipped cream!

I wanted to show you all George's piano. He bought it a few years ago on Craigslist for $300. I think it is so pretty!

A couple of new pictures from our house

AND some pictures from Hannah's senior night at Mountain View on Friday night. Can't believe Hannah is a senior!!

Studying

No time to post lately! I have two final exams tomorrow (one from 9-11:30 and another from 1-5) so I have been finishing up projects and studying. I just got really frustrated with a problem, so I decided to take a little blog/Facebook break.

I am looking forward to a little break from school next week....I have a week before my next quarter of classes start. Next quarter is Financial Accounting and a leadership course. The leadership one is an elective. Hopefully I survive accounting. I really didn't care for accounting at all when I took it in my undergrad. I'm sure I'll be over at my parents, asking for help from my dad.....that's what happened the last time I took accounting :)

Halloween is right around the corner and George and I have quite a few Halloween parties to go to this year. We are going to one at our friend's house on the 20th, another at SRP (where George's mom works) on the 26th and one with Brian, Terrisa, and their whole gang on the 27th. I am thinking about going as Mary Poppins. George, of course, will go as a Ghostbuster....don't think he'll ever NOT go as a Ghostbuster (I think that was a double negative). It's always a hit so I don't blame him. If I can't pull off the Mary Poppins thing in time, I will use my costume from last year. With the three parties, it would be fun to mix it up though.

Back to studying....will update again soon. I have a few pictures from Hannah's senior night with marching band.

Fall is Here!

I'm sitting on the couch with an "apple spice" candle burning.....it smells like fall.....and I LOVE it! I get so excited for this time of year. I just wish we had the weather to match it :) Hopefully this will be our last 100 degree week. I decided to bring a little bit of fall to our house with these red and orange mums. The only problem is that the sun is killing them....I put them in the shade today and am trying to keep them alive!

Tonight, Emily, George, Paisley, and I hung out at our house. Emily was planning to come over so I suggested that she bring Paisley too....that way Terrisa and Brian could relax a bit and have a night to themselves. She is really talking up a storm now. Most of it is gibberish, but you can tell that she knows what she's talking about! She also really seems to understand a lot of what everyone says to her. It must be frustrating when no one understands you.

We got a few more house related things done this weekend. We pretty much got the office all set-up. George also hung some more pictures. We are on the hunt for a piano bench. I found the perfect one on Craigslist, but it was gone when I called. I am also looking for an old, antique ladder....I want to paint the ladder and use it as a quilt holder for our living room (see picture below)....let me know if you have any ideas on where to look for either a piano bench or ladder.

Finally, here is a picture of our kitchen with the new stools.

GOODNIGHT!!! :)
