January Travels

Before I start writing, I have to share this picture of Madeline. Over the weekend we were up at Sunrise and I snapped this picture of her. I love it :)  FYI- the hat is covering Madeline's very short and crooked bangs. I tried to cut them last week, like I have in the past, but this time she suddenly turned. Oh well...they'll grow!

We have been doing quite a bit of traveling this month and even more is in store for me. We went to California to see Sergio and Andi two weekends ago and last weekend we went skiing in Pinetop with our friends Derek and Kelly. Madeline did very well in the car on both trips. Next week, I am off to Minneapolis for work (General Mills is headquartered there). I am packing my warmest clothes! Then, the following week, I am going to San Francisco (staying right in the city!) for 3 days for work again -- still packing my warm clothes! And finally, Brian, George, Terrisa, and I are going to NYC for 4 nights over Super Bowl weekend. The NYC trip has been planned for awhile and the work trips recently came up. I normally don't have to travel so much for work, these are sort of "one-offs". I do enjoy traveling, even for work, but it is going to be busy! I also don't like being away from Madeline so much. She has been very attached to me recently, which kind of makes it worse. I know, of course, that she is in good hands with George (and the help of family), which makes it better. Plus, I will FaceTime.

This marks week 2 of running for me. In fact, I just got back from a run. It feels so good to get out and exercise...I need to remember this feeling on the nights that I feel like sitting on the comfortable couch instead of hitting the pavement! Isn't it so easy to just sit on the couch?!

Madeline is learning new things everyday. Sometimes she surprises us with things that she learns or stuff that she says. For example, she loves bananas and just the other day she pointed and said "nana!" She will say "beep, beep" when she is pushing around one of her little toys or her stroller. And my favorite...she says "dank you" when you give her something that she wants! I think that this is my favorite stage of her so far.

Not too much else that's new around here. I think it's off to bed for me! After all, it's 9:23PM...
