Weekend and Happy Father's Day
I hope everyone had a great weekend! George and I did! One of the highlights of our weekend was a really nice dinner at a French restaurant in Newport Beach. My boss gave me a gift card a month or so ago for dinner and we decided to use it on Saturday night. The restaurant was seriously tiny...only 6 tables in the entire place, but the food was delicious. Of course, we had to get creme brulee for dessert (one of my absolute favorites).
On Sunday we went and picked up my bed from the house where I used to rent a room. Meri let me store my bed there for the past few months, but now she has a new tenant moving in. Anyway, finding a place to store the bed in our small apartment was challenging....AND it made me realize how moving in a month is not going to be fun! Oh well, I guess it is much better than moving an entire house full of stuff.
And, of course, yesterday was Father's Day! Unfortunately, George and I were not able to be with our dads yesterday, but we did talk to both of them. I spent a lot of yesterday thinking about how thankful I am for my dad. For those of you who know my dad, you know he is a great person. Just like I did for Mother's Day, I want to take a few minutes to tell you all some of my favorite things about my dad...
1. My dad is never shies away from a challenge or adventure. He has moved our family a few times for greater challenges in his career (which I can appreciate even more now that I am starting my career); He loves traveling and always treats travel as an adventure...that could mean renting a room for the family in a hostel in Belgium, hiking the Grand Canyon with my brother, or taking his family "shopping" in the most ghetto alley in Los Angeles, the man loves adventure!
2. He is a wise guy. Haha, yes, he is a "wise guy" too :) but seriously he is a very wise person. I have gone to my dad multiple times to get advice...whether it be personal advice or work advice, he always seems to be able to help me out. My dad has conducted mock interviews for me before I interview for a job, he has helped me plan out my budget, and is always the calm and collected leader of our family (we need that sometimes)!! Just all-in-all, a very wise person.
3. He is very balanced! I included this one in here because it is something that I am personally working on. My dad works hard at his job, exercises regularly, attends band concerts and soccer games, takes time to relax, etc, etc ,etc. I'm sure that it is not always easy, but he really manages to maintain a great balance in his life. I admire that!
Those are just a few of the many great things about my dad! So Dad, Happy Father's Day...wish I could have been there with you :)
Speaking of balance, I need a good night of sleep so GOODNIGHT my blog readers :)

Spaghetti Sandwich
I wanted to share this slightly strange, but very delicious meal we had the other night...spaghetti sandwiches! A few weekends ago, when we were down in San Diego, we went to a restaurant that is known for what they call a Torpedo. They had really great reviews online so we figured we should give it a shot. Their Torpedo was basically just a hollowed-out roll full of spaghetti with sauce (they also had other pastas combinations...pesto, alfredo, etc.) We both thought that is was so tasty (their sauce was delicious) and creative. So last week we decided that it would be really easy to recreate and...we did! Check it out :)
I toasted the bread a little bit to make it more sturdy!

Projects
Oops, a week has past since my last update!
As mentioned in my last post, George spent the weekend in Arizona. He had a really great time hanging out with his family. He took Marie to Sunsplash (water park in Mesa) on Sunday and I think they both enjoyed each other's company :) George also got to meet Paisley for the first time. He said that she was very smiley! Our next trip back to Arizona will be over Labor Day.
Meanwhile, back in California, I occupied myself with a bunch of little projects. It was kind of fun just relaxing at home and working on some crafts. We have a huge island in the kitchen that is PERFECT for projects, sewing, etc! It can get really messy when I pull out all of my stuff. Here is a little look at some of my accomplishments from the weekend.
The first project was a little skirt for Paisley. Until now, I have pretty much stuck to quilts. I was excited to try something new!
Then I decided to add a bit of lace. I like it!
I'm not quite sure if this skirt will fit Paisley, I was kind of winging the measurements...oh well, it was good practice either way.
Here is the second project...a button monogram! Guess who it is for...Paisley! I follow a bunch of blogs and they always have ideas for baby stuff. And baby stuff tends to be a bit easier to make.
I did work on a few other projects too, but I'm not going to share those. My goal is to give homemade gifts for Christmas this year....so if I start showing everything that I make, nothing will be a surprise come Christmas time!
I was glad to have George back on Monday evening. It was starting to get a little lonely in this apartment!
I hope everyone else is having a good week :)

Need to Hit the Gym!
This is procrastination at it's best. I am planning on going to the gym anytime now, but I can't seem to get myself to put my running shoes on :) Haha. I WILL GET TO THE GYM TONIGHT, I WILL GET TO THE GYM TONIGHT...I'm just going to keep saying that! I made a commitment to myself to work out more. I do enjoy the feeling of working out...after the workout is over of course. It always gives me more energy and makes me feel great, I just need to get in the habit of JUST GOING.
Anyway, enough about working out! George is heading to Phoenix on Saturday night and returning on Monday night (his days off are Sunday and Monday). My parents had an extra ticket that is expiring soon so they kindly gave it to George. He hasn't seen his sister or his parents for quite awhile....he misses his sister, Marie, a lot :) I am JEALOUS! I guess I have had the opportunity to go to Phoenix a lot more than he has so it is only fair!! My vacation will come soon enough - we will be in Rochester 3 weeks from today.
I think that is all for now....off to the gym!

Home Sweet Home
Well, I got back from my wonderful trip to San Fransisco on Friday and although it was a lot of fun, I was happy to be home with George after a busy weekend followed by a busy week! I was more than ready to just relax for a couple of days...which brings me to what we've done this weekend - pretty much NOTHING! I did some grocery shopping yesterday and George went to work. We met-up with our friends for dinner and a movie. And so far today we have just relaxed. We should probably shower soon seeing as it is 4PM and we need to leave for church at 5:30PM :)
We need to start thinking about where we are going to move when our lease is up in mid-July. It is tricky because we know that we will be here until October, but we don't know what's going to happen after that...we might end up relocating out of California in October. So as you can imagine, that makes signing a lease a bit difficult! We are considering renting a room from someone. Not ideal, but we think it would be worth it...we don't want to end up in a situation where we have to pay to break a lease. We'll see!
Here are a few pictures from my trip to San Fransisco:
A great view of the entire city

San Fransisco
Hello from San Fransisco! I don't think I mentioned it on any early posts, but I am traveling for work this week. I flew in from Orange County yesterday and I fly home on Friday. My division of Nestle is based in Oakland, CA. A trip to headquarters is one of the components of my program. We spent today and will spend tomorrow morning in meetings with leadership. Tomorrow afternoon they're taking us on a tour and dinner in downtown San Fransisco! Pretty cool, huh? I am definitely looking forward to the tour of course, but I have to say meeting with the leadership up here has also been AMAZING so far! We have mostly been meeting with Vice Presidents and higher and it is SO encouraging to hear about their career paths, successes, learnings, advice, development, etc, etc, etc!! When I'm at work day-to-day, it is easy to just live in my own little work world and forget about the big picture of what my company does. So just had to share....I'm excited about opportunities down the road with Nestle :)
